Bearing is widely used in equipment, bearing life is very critical. According to statistics, the failure of rotating machinery bearing damage fault accounts for about 30%, the accident loss is huge. The following is the analysis of the root causes of bearing damage and common types of bearing faults.

Analysis of root cause of bearing fault damage
Bearing is the core component of most equipment, and if the bearing fails, the equipment will stop. It is particularly important to find the root cause to avoid the accident happening again. In fact, once the bearing is damaged, it will gradually deteriorate until it cannot work, and at that time all the evidence of the failure may be destroyed. Each fault has its own characteristics and it is possible to determine the root cause of the fault by observing the damage condition.

Roots Of Bearing Damage And Common Types Of Bearing Faults

Common types of bearing faults

1.Wear and tear

Wear is one of the most common faults of rolling bearings, which is usually caused by foreign bodies, such as grinding damage, abrasion, groove marks and circumference lines

Trace or debris contamination can be divided into two categories: wear wear and viscous wear.

Wear is caused by tiny foreign bodies inside the uranium socket, which may be contaminated particles from outside or inside, such as metal particles or carbides carried by gears. These particles will wear or grind the raceway and rolling body. In tapered roller bearings, the wear degree of the roller end face and inner ring baffle is far more serious than that of the raceway. This wear will cause axial clearance or internal clearance to expand, thereby reducing the bearing life and leading to bearing eccentricity. Viscous wear mainly occurs on the contact surface with light load, poor lubrication and large speed difference of rolling body resulting in sliding.

2.Fatigue
The form of fatigue is spalling, in which the uranium support material is pitting or falling off. Spalling initially occurs on the raceway or rolling body.
Fatigue from below the raceway surface is deterioration of the material and is caused by alternating stresses beneath the raceway surface, ultimately leading to decay of the material. Cracks appear at first, and cracks develop slowly with bearing work. When cracks develop to the surface, spalling occurs.Fatigue from the surface is usually caused by insufficient lubrication.

3. Mechanical corrosion
Erosion is usually due to temperature changes in the bearing seat, internal air condensation, water accumulation. And moisture or water often enters the bearing from the damaged or inappropriate sealing ring. Because of the high accuracy of the bearing raceway and the rolling body surface, it is extremely vulnerable to the corrosion of moisture and water. Compared with other damage processes, it occurs faster and can develop to the depth of the material to cause serious damage to the bearing. Too much humidity in the air or touching the raceway with your fingers can cause this type of corrosion. So it's very important to protect yourself.
